The short answer

A pocket WiFi is a small battery-powered 4G router that gives your phones, tablets and laptops their own private WiFi anywhere in Morocco. Ours costs €4.90 per day with unlimited data and no throttling, connects up to 10 devices on the Maroc Telecom network, and is delivered to you and collected again in Marrakech, free, at your hotel, riad or Menara airport. You book online, the minimum rental is 2 days, and there is nothing to install.

This page is the complete guide to renting a pocket WiFi for a trip to Morocco: what the device is, what a rental really costs, where you can get one, where it works, and how it compares with an eSIM, a local SIM and roaming. We rent these routers in Marrakech every day, so the prices are ours and the booking figures further down come from our own rentals. Where we quote somebody else’s price, we say where and when we read it.

What is a pocket WiFi, and how does it work in Morocco?

A pocket WiFi, also called a portable WiFi, a MiFi or a mobile hotspot, is a router small enough for a pocket. Inside is a SIM card on a Moroccan mobile network. The router connects to that network and turns the connection into a password-protected WiFi network that only your devices join.

In practice it works like the WiFi at home, except that it comes with you:

  1. Switch it on. It arrives charged and already connected to the Maroc Telecom 4G network.
  2. Join the WiFi with the password printed on the card that comes with the router. No app, no QR code, no settings to change.
  3. Connect up to 10 devices at the same time: phones, tablets, laptops, an e-reader, a games console.
  4. Carry it with you. In a bag, in the car, on the terrace: the connection follows the router, not the building.

Your own SIM card stays in your phone, so you keep your number for calls and text messages while your data goes through the router. The battery lasts up to 8 hours, and the router charges over USB, in a car or at your riad. It is a 4G router rated for up to 300 Mbps: fast, but not 5G.

How much does a pocket WiFi cost in Morocco?

Our rental is one flat rate: €4.90 per router per day, VAT included. The price does not change with the number of people connected or the amount of data used.

Our published rates on 7 October 2026, one router, delivery and collection included. The €50 deposit is pre-authorised on your card, not taken, and released when the router comes back in good condition.

Where can you rent a pocket WiFi for Morocco?

There are three ways to get one, and they differ far more in how the router reaches you than in the router itself.

1. Rent it in Morocco, handed to you on arrival

This is what we do. You book online, and we hand you the router in Marrakech: in the arrivals hall at Menara airport, or at your hotel, riad, villa or Airbnb. We collect it at the end of your stay. Delivery and collection are free, and same-day delivery is possible subject to availability. See pocket WiFi rental in Marrakech and pocket WiFi at Marrakech airport.

2. Order it from an international service, by post

Global brands send the router to your home before you leave. When we read their own websites on 28 August 2026, Travel WiFi shipped from warehouses in Houston, France, Spain and Chile, in 2–3 business days by standard delivery, and asked you to post the router back afterwards. MyWebspot sold the device for $39 and then a day pass at $12.90, with 1 GB at full speed each day before the speed is reduced. On those figures a first one-week trip with MyWebspot came to $129.30, about €110.81 at the European Central Bank rate of 26 August 2026, before shipping, against €34.30 for a week with us. The full, sourced comparison is in renting in Morocco versus shipping it from abroad.

3. Buy a box from a Moroccan operator

inwi, Orange and Maroc Telecom each sell a router of their own. We read their offers on their own websites on 11 September 2026: inwi’s Vacay-WiFi came to 400 MAD (about €37) for the router and 7 days; Maroc Telecom’s Box 4G+ is a monthly plan with a 60 GB allowance. You order it yourself, with an identity step for which inwi accepts a foreign passport, and keep the router afterwards. A rented router arrives charged and working, runs on Maroc Telecom, and goes back at the end with nothing left to manage. Details and the day-by-day table are in inwi, Orange or Maroc Telecom pocket WiFi versus renting, and the wider question in buy, bring your own, or rent.

One week, one router. Competitor figures read on each provider’s own website on the dates shown; dirham price converted at Bank Al-Maghrib’s rate of 11 September 2026 (€1 = 10.89 MAD). Prices change: check the provider before you buy.

The advantages of a pocket WiFi in Morocco

Truly unlimited internet

  • No daily allowance, no total cap and no throttling at any point in the rental.
  • Maps, video calls, streaming and photo uploads without counting gigabytes.

Your own private network

  • A password-protected WiFi that only your devices join.
  • Not shared with other guests, unlike hotel, riad, café or airport WiFi.

One price for everyone

  • The rate is per router, not per person: up to 10 devices on €4.90 a day.
  • Four people sharing for a week pay €8.58 each.

Every device, no compatibility check

  • Works with any device that has WiFi: laptops, tablets, older phones, locked phones.
  • No eSIM support needed and no SIM to swap, so you keep your own number.

Nothing to set up

  • No shop, no passport registration, no top-ups.
  • It arrives charged and connected; you type one password.

It travels with you

  • The same connection in the riad, the taxi, the souks and on the road.
  • It keeps working across Morocco, wherever Maroc Telecom has 4G.

Does it work everywhere in Morocco?

The router works across the whole country, on Maroc Telecom’s 4G network. It works in the cities, along the main roads and at most desert camps. Expect gaps on the climbs over the High Atlas, in the upper gorges and on remote dunes: the masts are where the people are.

We published the detail, place by place, in does pocket WiFi work everywhere in Morocco, using open cell-tower data. As one example from that data, 1,971 Maroc Telecom 4G cells have been recorded within 10 km of the centre of Marrakech, against 740 for Orange and 757 for inwi.

Coverage is not delivery

The router works nationwide, but we hand it over and collect it in Marrakech only, Menara airport included. If your trip starts in Marrakech and then goes to Essaouira, the Atlas or the desert, the router goes with you and comes back with you.

Pocket WiFi, eSIM, local SIM or roaming?

How the four options differ. Each row links to the full comparison.
Option Devices Data What to know
Pocket WiFi router Up to 10, laptops included Unlimited, no throttling One price for the group, nothing to install, delivered in Marrakech.
Travel eSIM One phone; others by tethering A fixed bundle, or “unlimited”, often with a fair-use or hotspot limit Needs a compatible, unlocked phone. Priced per person. See eSIM vs pocket WiFi.
Local SIM card One phone A prepaid bundle that runs out Bought in a shop with your passport; one per person. See SIM card or pocket WiFi.
Roaming One phone Depends on your plan Morocco is outside the EU roaming zone, so check your operator’s rate first. See the roaming guide.

From two people upward, one router usually costs less than an unlimited eSIM each, and it is the only one of the four that puts a laptop online without tethering through a phone. What “unlimited” really means for each option is explained in unlimited data in Morocco.

What our own rentals show

We looked at every paid rental we delivered between February and September 2026. Three patterns are useful if you are still deciding:

  • You can decide late. More than one booking in three is made on the same day the router is wanted, and more than half on the same day or the day before.
  • The airport is the favourite meeting point. Close to half of all deliveries are at Menara airport; the rest go to hotels, villas, Airbnbs and riads.
  • Five days is the typical rental. The shortest was 2 days and the longest 16.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pocket WiFi?

A pocket WiFi is a small battery-powered router with a mobile SIM card inside. It connects to a 4G network and creates a private, password-protected WiFi network for your phones, tablets and laptops. It is also called a portable WiFi, a MiFi or a mobile hotspot.

How much does it cost to rent a pocket WiFi in Morocco?

We rent at €4.90 per router per day, VAT included, with a 2-day minimum: €24.50 for 5 days and €34.30 for a week. Delivery and collection in Marrakech are free. A €50 deposit is pre-authorised and released when the router is returned in good condition.

Is the data really unlimited?

Yes. There is no daily allowance, no total cap and no throttling at any point in the rental.

How many devices can connect to one pocket WiFi?

Up to 10 devices at the same time: phones, tablets, laptops and anything else with WiFi. The price is per router, not per device.

Where do you deliver the pocket WiFi?

In Marrakech only: at your hotel, riad, villa or Airbnb, or in the arrivals hall at Menara airport. Delivery and collection are free, every day from 08:00 to 20:00 (09:00–15:30 during Ramadan).

Does the pocket WiFi work outside Marrakech?

Yes. The router works across Morocco wherever Maroc Telecom has 4G coverage, including the other cities, the coast and the main roads. Expect gaps on the climbs over the High Atlas, in the upper gorges and on remote dunes. It is handed over and collected in Marrakech.

Which network does the pocket WiFi use?

Maroc Telecom’s 4G network. It is a 4G router, not 5G.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 8 hours. It charges over USB, and you can add a power bank for €1.90 per day for a full day out.

Do I need a SIM card, an eSIM or my passport?

No. The SIM is already in the router and you do not register anything. Your own SIM stays in your phone, so you keep your number.

Can I get a pocket WiFi the same day?

Often, yes. Same-day delivery in Marrakech is possible subject to availability; book online and we confirm. More than one booking in three is made on the day the router is wanted.

Is a pocket WiFi better than an eSIM for Morocco?

For two or more people, for laptops and tablets, and for phones that cannot take an eSIM, yes: one router covers up to 10 devices with unlimited data and nothing to install. An eSIM puts data on one compatible, unlocked phone and is priced per person.

What happens if I stay three weeks or more?

For three weeks or more, or three or more routers, we quote individually instead of multiplying the daily rate. Email contact@pocketwifimorocco.com or WhatsApp +212 6 23 11 25 18 before you book.
