# Marrakech Film Festival 2026: Getting Around and Staying Online

The **23rd Marrakech International Film Festival** runs from **20 to 28 November 2026**, with **Bong Joon-ho** presiding over the jury and a programme of **82 films from 31 countries**.

## Two things worth knowing

A large part of the festival is **free and outdoors**: public screenings on a giant screen in **Jemaa el-Fnaa**, no ticket or badge needed, watched by several thousand people at once. The ticketed screenings at the Palais des Congrès and the Colisée cinema are genuinely open to the public rather than industry-only, but tickets are released close to the festival and go quickly.

November in Marrakech is around **22 °C** in the day and **12 °C** in the evening — a ten-degree swing between a lunchtime screening and a late one.

## Why the connection matters during festival week

A film festival is a logistics problem more than anything else:

- **The venues are far apart.** The Palais des Congrès is in Hivernage, Jemaa el-Fnaa is in the medina, and that is a 20-minute taxi in evening traffic. Ride-hailing apps need data at exactly the moment you are leaving a cinema.

- **Schedules move at short notice**, and ticket releases happen online while you are out.

- **Screenings finish late.** Calling a taxi at 23:30 from a venue you do not know is the single most useful thing your phone does that week.

- **Riad Wi-Fi does not travel with you**, and that is where you actually need the connection.

The whole festival is nine days, so the 10-day column covers it with a day spare: **€49.00** for the router. Most people come for a long weekend in the middle, which is **€24.50** for five days.

## Practical notes

- **Book accommodation early.** Festival week is one of the tightest of the year in the medina, alongside New Year.

- **Add a power bank for €1.90 a day.** A festival day is long and there is nowhere to charge in a cinema queue.

- **The Jemaa el-Fnaa screenings are standing-room and very crowded.** Agree a meeting point with your group rather than relying on phones in a crowd of thousands.
